frequently asked questions...

What is your area of expertise?
We don't have a single area of expertise. What makes us stand out from the pack is the diverse knowledge base of our combined staff. We provide - under one roof - an equal amount of highly qualified talent in both programming and graphic design.

Are there certain types of projects that you prefer?
We enjoy the challenge of integrating cutting-edge internet-based technology into the way a company operates their business. More specifically, automating a business via their web site so that in-house resources are freed up to perform more important, income generating tasks.

What kind of software programs do you create?
Advanced Software Development designs programs incorporating data base management, business forms and applications, interactive, data-driven MS-.Net or Cold Fusion web sites and static, informational web sites.

What kind of graphic design work do you do?
We design logos and corporate identity packages, brochures, stationary and letterhead, mailers, web site banners and promotional literature as well as custom web sites and software application interfaces.

Which software applications and tools do you use when designing your web sites and client-server software applications?
Our programmers and designers are proficient in C++, ColdFusion, Java, Javascript, Pascal, Delphi, NetObjects, Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft Dot.NET,Microsoft SqlServer (possess expertise in most major database management systems), Quark Express, Microsoft Picture Publisher, Photoshop and CorelDraw.

What do you concentrate on when determining the "look and feel" of a web site?
Our approach to web site design is to keep things simple. Overwhelming the user with unnecessary text and/or graphics is detrimental to the intended "ease of use" of the site. If a person doesn't feel comfortable using something, chances are they won't use it at all. The site should appear friendly and inviting. High end graphics tend to slow down a site. We rely on strong design to present the content in an appealing and interesting format, rather than lots of "bells and whistles."

Are there standard steps you take in the web site design process?
Yes. We design a site in stages. The first stage is outlining the organizational flow of the web site. The next stage is incorporating content. And the final stage is designing the look and feel. We display the work-in-progress to our clients during each of these stages via a temporary "demo" area that can be accessed via their internet connection.
